New type diesel pour point depressant
. The Mechanism of Action of Diesel Pour Point Depressant
1. The causes of diesel losing fluidity at low temperatures
The normal paraffin hydrocarbons in diesel change their flow state as the temperature decreases. Paraffin begins to precipitate, and the paraffin crystals rapidly grow to a size of 200μm and form rhombic crystals in the form of flakes. These crystals are interconnected, and the crystallization of rhombic flaking wax encapsulates the cycloalkanes, alkenes and other components in diesel that do not change their flow state with the decrease of temperature, causing them to lose fluidity. Generally, only 0.5-2% of paraffin crystals in diesel need to precipitate to cause a drastic change in the flow state of diesel.
2. The mechanism of action of diesel pour point depressant
After adding the diesel low-temperature flow performance improver to diesel. It can undergo eutectic adsorption with the paraffin precipitated in the diesel under a low-temperature environment.
Generally, the paraffin precipitation temperature value of diesel and the amount of paraffin precipitation at a certain temperature can't be altered by low-temperature flow performance improver, which can only change the shape and size of paraffin crystals and prevent the formation of a three-dimensional network structure. Therefore, it cannot eliminate the influence of paraffin on the low-temperature performance of diesel, which merely changes the low-temperature state of diesel.

三.Use Methods
1. Before using pour point depressant, a small-scale test should be conducted in the laboratory. Pursuant to the results of the small-scale test, pour point depressant should be added in a certain proportion. The general addition amount is 0.3-1‰.
2. Mixing can be achieved by using mixing devices such as agitators and static mixers pursuant to the blending ratio. In large tanks, mixing can be carried out through pump circulation, or it can be completed by long-distance transportation in tank trucks and natural oscillation.
3. When the ambient temperature is so low that the product becomes overly viscous, it can be indirectly heated with heat transfer oil, steam, hot water or other media (prohibit direct heating with open flame), and then diluted with kerosene; Meanwhile, the temperature of the diesel should be around 40℃ to ensure that the pour point depressant is thoroughly and evenly mixed with the diesel, thereby achieving the desired application effect.
